This week on We Need to Talk Super Bowl Sunday. Where is Savannah's mother? And everything we need is wrapped up in Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian.
SPEAKER_00If it's true. It's true. Hope so.
SPEAKER_02Birds freezing in the happy frigid Super Bowl Sunday. Hopefully, when everybody's listening to this podcast, you won some money. Your belly is full. And it warmed up like 10 degrees because this is outrageous.
SPEAKER_00It's so fucking cold. It's really, really, really, really cold. I'm just checking my daily weather because I believe, yes, today is the last day of the frigid cold. The high is 17. Yes. Starting tomorrow, we start to get into the 30s. Oh, it's gonna be bomby. I may go out with no jacket tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Wednesday, 40 degrees, people. It's gonna be great, but it's been brutal and I cannot take it. And I'm tired of hearing myself say, I'm cold, I'm complaining. I'm tired of it all. I'm tired of my jackets, my earmuffs, my hats, my gloves, my mittens, the socks, the shoes. I'm just tired of every single aspect of it.
SPEAKER_00We are not used to this cold anymore.
SPEAKER_02Let me tell you what it's good for. I went outside with a couple wine bottles, put them in the snow, ready to drink.
SPEAKER_00That gives you really exponential room because you can put a lot on ice. You gotta be innovative.
SPEAKER_02What's those lemons make lemony bullshit? That's what I'm trying to do here. All right, it is Super Bowl Sunday while we were recording early in the morning, so we don't know anything yet. I am just rooting for my boxes to win. I have my I Hate the Patriots t-shirt ready to go.
SPEAKER_00Obviously, rooting for Seattle. I'm rooting for Seattle, but I really, really want Ann Michael May and Drake May to.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. I love them. First of all, we got plenty of years for these two. She doesn't need to win this year. They're not going anywhere. Yes, I know, but I love them so much. No, you don't. You know who I love so much? Matthew Stafford and his girls. Oh my god, he won MVP. Congratulations, Matthew. He's got his four girls with their matching outfits. I cannot take it out. Those little girls are so cute. I'm glad that they gave it to him and not to May. I know it was very close. It was very by one vote, May. No disrespect. You got plenty of years in this system. And you know what else I'd like to say to everyone? I do like her so much. What do I like to say to everyone? And I'm sure he's listening before he gets ready to attend the big game. Fuck you, Tom Brady. I feel like Tom Brady's lost his mind. First of all, I saw this morning that he retracts his statements because his family is rooting for the Patriots and he's giving Kraft his support. Lest I remember, Tom Brady, there's a fucking gold or bronze or some bullshit statue in front of their stadium, and you have the nerve to say to the fans, basically, because those are the only people that give a shit, is that you have no dog in this race. So stupid. I get that you're an owner, a commentator, but you played on that team for 20 plus years, and there's a fucking bronze statue in front of it.
SPEAKER_00I just don't understand how stupid somebody can be. If you want to think that, Tom Brady, fine, think whatever you want. But to say it out loud, it's so dumb. So dumb.
SPEAKER_02So dumb. He's dumb and fucking had it. And you know what I did in order to just celebrate how dumb he is? The other morning at like 4:15, I watched Super Bowl 46. Where we beat the piss out of him. I watched it like I was watching it for the first time. And you know, in some aspects, I was watching it for the first time because I attended Super Bowl 46, and a lot of that last four minutes, my eyes would close. But okay. Oh my god. I raised my red wine that was nice and toasty in the snow. Thank you, Eli. All right, anyway, moving off. I hope everybody enjoyed their snacks. We do this every year. What is your food of choice today?
SPEAKER_00I got no plans. I got no food. I got nothing. What? I get invited to people's places. I don't want to go because that because when you go to a Super Bowl party, nobody watches the game. I don't want to go to all my friends who are going to bars because I want to just be able to watch the commercials and watch everything. And I just always get so distracted. I don't like when you're at a party and the guys are here and the girls are there and the girls don't talk about the game. I just so I decided not to accept any invitations this year.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but my question is did you get invitations? I did. Okay, because in the words of Mike Francesa, okay, he said, if you are alone on the Super Bowl, okay, and alone when the ball drops, you have to rethink your life. Well, I choose that. But I feel like this would mean maybe you didn't get any invites.
SPEAKER_00No, I got invites. I just said no to everything. All right, okay. All right. So I'm probably just gonna order my favorite salad from the diner and be done.
SPEAKER_02I am in agreement with you about watching it at home, Super Bowl parties. I'm in agreement with all that you said. But what I'm not in agreement with is even if you're home and it's just you and Rick, you need the food. A salad is not what people eat on Super Bowl Sunday.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, we kept talking about it all week. What should we do for Super Bowl? Should we order this? Should we get a cheese platter? Should we do this? Should we do that? And we just didn't make any decisions. So right now there's nothing in this house to eat.
SPEAKER_02That sounds horrible.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I'm okay with it. We are ready. I'm sure you probably have it all going on. We are ready.
SPEAKER_02You have like a giant hero, you got some cheese. We don't have a hero this year because we are making Seattle salmon. And Seattle salmon. You know, salmon is big in Seattle, so we're we're we're rooting for Seattle. What kind of salmon are you? But we're also gonna have like ribs and chicken wings. Okay, the normal stuff. And all the normal stuff that go with a Super Bowl Sunday. So I'm excited about it. I'm gonna drink good wine that the weather is chilling for me as we speak. I'm predicting the score. Here it is: 27-14. So if you have 7-4 people, I hope you won. Hopefully Seattle. But every time I root for a team, they lose. But we're gonna go with this. I think it's gonna be 27-21 Seattle.
SPEAKER_00Wow, you give them a little bit more credit on the May side. I think Drake May is gonna have a really good game, but I think it's I think Seattle pulls it out by a touchdown. I think it's gonna be 27-21. That's what I'm going with. All right. If it was the other way around and I don't win, that's okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited, although this Super Bowl is zero hype. If everyone's just talking about Tom Brady, including myself, leading up to the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_00This week, between Super Bowl prep and the Olympics, everything just feels sort of nothing. The Olympic opening ceremonies were boring.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, Andre Picelli was outrageous. Way to kick it off in Italy. I don't even understand what happens when he starts singing. It's like an outer body experience.
SPEAKER_00Well, especially because it doesn't even look like it's strenuous for him to sing. Oh my god. It's like when he talks, it just comes out that way. No, it's just so beautiful.
SPEAKER_02So I love that. And you know, listen, uh, this Lindsay Vaughn thing is so upsetting. So everybody knows that before the Olympics started, she tore ACL. Right. He made statements about why she needed to ski with a busted ACL.
SPEAKER_00Well, this is it. She retired and then came back. So this is really it. Yeah, but now she this morning she had another crash, had to be airlifted. Yeah. I mean, she's gonna be limping for the rest of her life. Was it worth it? I don't even understand how you're able to ski with a blown ACL.
SPEAKER_02But USA did win the gold, her teammate won the gold, so congrats. And I feel terrible about Lindsay, but I give her credit, and it's just it's it's a weird, it's a weird mentality.
SPEAKER_00It's not like you never won, it's not like you've never been in the Olympics. I know, but you are a you are an athlete, you want it bad. I get it. But at a certain point, it's time to throw in the towel and chillax. Well, now be a reporter. She could have been reporting from the Olympics, she'd have to go.
SPEAKER_02Now maybe that's what she does.
SPEAKER_00She better.
SPEAKER_02All right, rest, Lindsay. Rest. Let me say this: getting off of the sporting world. I am obsessed with the kidnapping.
SPEAKER_00Everybody's obsessed with Savannah Guthrie's mother. I don't understand why it's now a week and one day later, and we have not gotten her back.
SPEAKER_02I don't understand. Like, we could do anything, we actually could do anything. I think in my head, I think of something I want or need. And then I go on my phone and there it is. But it only happened in my head. I never even said the words. And we can't find this woman.
SPEAKER_00Wait, here's the other thing. Of course, you know, I've always thought I was gonna be murdered, but now that I think I'm gonna be kidnapped as well. Yes, yes. So I was talking to my sister and my niece, and their family has a safe word because you can't just stand there and hold a newspaper to say I'm alive and it's this day anymore because of AI. So you have to have a safe word to say I'm alive, right? So that's not AI. So I knew we had a safe word, but of course we forgot the safe word. So now we all have discussed what the revised safe word is. That made me think does everybody know that you have to have a safe word because of AI now? If you think you're gonna be kidnapped, or if you think that someone's gonna ask for ransom or anything, you and your family need to make sure you have a safe word. So we do, my sister does. I hope you and producer Ed do. Everybody should have one because now I thought I was sort of safe in my home, but now I'm like, well, someone could come drag me out. I do not have a safe word, but I will come up with one. You need to get one. Yeah. ASAP. And then the other thing that I don't understand, you say like we can get anything done. Okay, I live my life right now, like everything's being recorded. Exactly. My point. This is my point. You can't get away with anything. And I can't even think footage of this woman.
SPEAKER_02No footage. This is what I'm saying. It makes zero sense. Alexa watches the ring, every phone. Yeah, no, no. CCTV is in every movie on TV. I don't know. Where's the CCTV? Unfortunately, I feel like she's dead. And now I feel like their plea is, I think, for the body, to be honest with you, or the remains or whatever it is. I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00Well, if the kidnappers actually really exist and the kidnappers are actually really communicating with Savannah and her family, then if I'm a kidnapper, I want to get the job done fast. I want to kidnap, I want to get the ransom, and I want to go. I want my Bitcoin, I want to be done. I don't want to take care of this elderly woman for a month. I want to be an efficient kidnapper. I want to get the kidnapping done.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. It's either some kind of political motive, which that's so crazy for me to think about because political and no disrespect to Savannah, but she's following Tom the Turkey on the Macy's parade. So, okay. But it's either a political motive or it's something gone wrong because this is dumb. These guys aren't getting away with this at the end. Let's go back. We need to find this woman.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we need to find her, people. This is ridiculous. She's not in Milan. I don't understand why nobody's thinking about this all happened the week before the Olympics. There's gotta be a connection to this. That's all bad. I'm down a lot of rabbit holes. The fact that we cannot find this woman is insane. You can find my keys anywhere. Exactly my point. Right. Find my earbuds anywhere.
SPEAKER_02Dude, we don't get out of the driveway and something tells Ed that we left Timmy behind. Right.
SPEAKER_00Right. And every neighbor's camera sees you leave. Yeah. No.
SPEAKER_02It's silly.
SPEAKER_00Every Amazon driver knows what my dogs look like. It's unbelievable. We gotta move on because we could just do a show like just Oh my god, the fact that they cannot find her is pissing me off.
SPEAKER_02We'll have a show just about this. We'll miss the Super Bowl. And you know what?
SPEAKER_00I can't wait for the movie.
SPEAKER_02Okay. It's very sad to say, but yeah, me E too.
SPEAKER_00Oh the docuseries of the documentary. It's gonna be a great movie. Especially if she's alive. Well, no, I'm gonna go with she is alive. I hope so. Hope you're right. Hope you're right.
SPEAKER_02All right, so a couple of things. Let's move to music. So we had the Grammys last week, and I don't want to recap because it's a bit a week, but we do want to say congratulations to me and you who recognize how great Olivia Dean is, right?
SPEAKER_00All I know is when we say something's gonna happen, yeah, it happens. We said Olivia Dean rocked from the second we heard her. Second, and we were the first to say it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and guess what? Olivia Dean wins. So that was amazing, and I was happy to see that. And also, I went to my first candlelight show, like you did. Yeah. Ours was in a church, and it was Adele's music. Right. And I fucking loved it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you saw the same string team that I saw.
SPEAKER_02Highline quartz tat. And weren't they great? Oh my god, fabulous. And just being in the church and the candles everywhere, and you know how much I love Adele.
SPEAKER_00Right. I have to go to one in a church. Even though mine was amazing, there's a million candles. I feel like a church would even elevate the experience more. What time did you go? We started at 6:45.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we went to the 8:30 show. You went to the late one. Okay. They had two shows. Looking back on it, I probably would go to the first show and then grab a drink after. You could do it either way. But it's an hour long. It's great. Was there a lot of people there? Was it sold out? It was sold out. You know, the only problem is, and again, here I am complaining, but no complaining. No complaining. I know. But in churches in general, it's cold. Oh, that's right. I'm gonna go to Mass today. There's heat, but it's cold. It can't accommodate the type of weather. So even though it wasn't this type of weather when I went on Friday evening. Were you in your coat the whole time? I was kind of in my coat, which I didn't really like.
SPEAKER_00Not good.
SPEAKER_02But other than that, I highly recommend if you could see the Highline quartet. They're fantastic. Yeah, fantastic.
SPEAKER_00And they're all over the Tri-State area. And they're from Fort Lee, which is where I grew up. All right, so Okay, so you guys, I went to this thing called the Magic Table at the Pierre Hotel. Me and my friend Sue. And I don't know if I've ever been to the Pierre Hotel before, but it's really a fancy old school hotel. And I saw this thing called the Magic Table. You know I like magic, and all the magic takes place on the table.
SPEAKER_02So you go to the Pierre Hotel, that's where they're hosting the magic table.
SPEAKER_00Yep. It's in the ballroom, one of the smaller ballrooms, and there's all these tables. You reserve a table, and it's a five-course meal, and in between each course is a magic thing on the table. That's fun. Yeah, I was really excited for it, but I will say it was a total rip-off. Oh, really? I didn't pay for it, but it was $195 a person. And I'm there early. I go to the bar and I didn't really look at the prices. And I ordered myself a drink. What'd you order? I ordered myself, it was called a spring.
SPEAKER_02So you ordered a specialty cocktail from their menu.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And I didn't really look at the prices. So I ordered my drink and then I go back to the menu to see like what else is on there. And I realized my cocktail, my one cocktail, was $35. That was the lowest price. The rest of them were $55. So when she got to the bar and I go to hug her hello, I whisper in her ear and I go, I am so sorry. I will pay you back. I had no idea how expensive the cocktails are. She was like, you know, don't worry about it. She was treating you. Business, or you can expense it. But anyway, so we go to the magic table. The food was fine, but no free water. So it was $17 a bottle of water. Oh my god. No free drinks.
SPEAKER_02Where is everybody that's struggling?
SPEAKER_00They're not struggling at the Psalms. It's unbelievable. And also, to be honest, the table wasn't so magical. It was fine. It's all from a projector above, and the people talk to you on the table and you touch things on the table. To be honest, shame on you, Pierre Hotel. And the magic table should be at like a diner. It shouldn't be at the Pierre Hotel. You know, I'm just always looking for something different to do.
SPEAKER_02No, I think it's a great idea. So I'm sorry it was disappointing, but I like to go back to the fact that cocktails are $50.
SPEAKER_00You know, if you have two drinks each, you're talking about $110 plus so you're talking about $200 for four drinks, not to mention the tip or anything else.
SPEAKER_02Maybe this is why Gen Z doesn't drink, but still fuck them. Or the opposite. Now cocktails need to be so expensive because these assholes don't drink.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The economics is just unbelievable.
SPEAKER_02Well, let me say this.
SPEAKER_00But how are you supposed to even tip on that?
SPEAKER_02Let me say this, and again, then we gotta stop complaining because I feel myself complaining. I like to be positive on Super Bowl Sunday. No, I just on Super Bowl Sunday. So we've had our house when it was like eight, nine inches the other last time, and we had people come and shovel. Okay. And that cost of what it costs people to shovel is also outrageous.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how much it costs to have somebody shovel. How much does it cost?
SPEAKER_02Let me just be very clear 35 bucks an hour?
SPEAKER_00How many people are shoveling?
SPEAKER_02I think there's probably like two or three. They're shoveling out my driveway. Okay. And they're shoveling my walkway. I don't have a sidewalk. What was it? We're in a cul de sat. 150 bucks? $190. Wow. Hence the swipe Ed's outside for like the past two days, shoveling, whatever we have now. So prices are insane, but that doesn't matter because you know what today is? Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Let me just give you some positive news, everybody. If you're listening to this on Monday and you are mad that you stayed up to watch the commercials or to see if your money hit or to watch Bad Bunny, which no one's doing, and you're going to work. This is the last time that you will be going to work after the Super Bowl. That is positive. Next year, Super Bowl Sunday will be on Valentine's Day, February 14th, and it's President's Day. Correct? And it will continue in that format. And this is what I have to say.
SPEAKER_00What I have to say, you guys, is that means make your plans for Super Bowl Sunday in the future much sooner. Because if it's going to be Valentine's Day, Super Bowl Sunday, and President's Day, that's going to change flying somewhere, big dinners. Make your plans way in advance then.
SPEAKER_02That is my dream Valentine's Day.
SPEAKER_00Listen, I get that we like that idea. But for the people out there that do like a good Valentine's Day, who is that? It's not me. I'm not like that. I don't care.
SPEAKER_02Remember now there's a Valentine's Day cookie puss and call it a day.
SPEAKER_00But now there's Galantines and Palentines and Puppet Times and this time and that times. Stupid. But now it's President's Day added to the equation.
SPEAKER_02Correct. So that's some positive news for everybody. I just want to say that.
SPEAKER_00I didn't realize that it was wait. So they're changing the whole schedule so that now Super Bowl Sunday will always be on Valentine's weekend.
SPEAKER_02Super Bowl Sunday will always be around President's Weekend.
SPEAKER_00Oh that can get done, but we can't get rid of daylight savings time on the next day after Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02You just don't have work.
SPEAKER_00It's great. I don't understand that we can't we can get that done, but we can't get daylight savings done.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's tell you another piece of good news. I have another piece of good news for me. What is it? Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian is the news that everybody needs.
SPEAKER_00I hope that's true. It is true. They confirmed, no? I don't know that they confirmed. Seriously, I thought she did. I have not seen Kim or Lewis actually say, yes, we're dating. I want to know was it a Skims thing? Was it a Lewis Hamilton thing? If I'm either Lewis or Kim and I get to wake up next to each other, what's better than that?
SPEAKER_02They're so awesome. The clothes alone. They are both so vain and so great. And the fashion it's what everybody needs.
SPEAKER_00The only problem with Lewis and Kim is their schedules because the F1 season kicks off next month in Australia. She has her schedule and four kids. So I don't really know how they're gonna be able to do this. He's gonna be all over the world. Yes, she has a plane, but she has four kids.
SPEAKER_01She's gonna make it work, trust me. It's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_02It's actually gonna be amazing. She's gonna make it work because she is. I hope so.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we too. It's really what I need. I love Lewis and Kim to be together. The only issue though is I think Lewis wants kids. She'll do another surrogate.
SPEAKER_02She's 42, 42. She's got a lot of kids, a lot of dogs, and a lot of help, dude.
SPEAKER_00And he just got paid.
SPEAKER_02And a lot of money. So we're good.
SPEAKER_00And a lot of money too. He's got a new dog, right? It looked like he had a bunch of dogs, or I don't know if he was picking a new dog. I'm not sure, but it looked to me like he was getting a new dog.
SPEAKER_02Maybe he thinks it's too painful to just have one dog now.
SPEAKER_00I would never have just one dog.
SPEAKER_02It was very painful for me.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, that's not true. I'm gonna have to have one dog at some point because I can't walk two dogs by myself.
SPEAKER_02By yourself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't walk two dogs by myself. I can only walk walk one dog.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so why are you by yourself?
SPEAKER_00What if I'm alone? What if I somebody got murdered or killed?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. If somebody was kidnapped, then you'd be in trouble.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I have to be able to walk my dog by myself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00All right, think ahead, people. You got a safe word. Yeah. Make sure you guys get a safe word. No joke.
SPEAKER_02We used to have a safe word, though. Not me an ad, but like a safe word with my friends, like when things are getting annoying.
SPEAKER_00Well, my sister has a safe word at work because when they're all in a room and someone's coming, they have a safe word for that. Right. I don't really have that. We did make a safe word a while ago, and now of course I know the word. Either way, you should have one because of AI. All right, let's go. Okay, uh, we need we need a follow-up. Last week, we were talking about the genesis of step parents.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I did get a few comments.
SPEAKER_00So Rich looked it up, I looked it up, other people looked it up. And to be honest, now that I know why, I like the genesis of it. Basically, I back in the olden days, if someone lost a parent and someone stepped in to help take care of the child, that's how the whole stepparent came to be. And honestly, that's nice. So I don't understand how it got a negative connotation over time. Maybe because of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, where Friggin Cinderella was the stepchild and the evil stepmother. How did something actually so nice go so wrong? Was it because of the fairy tales?
SPEAKER_02Loyal listener Joe, I just had to go to my text messages because he sent me a text after listening to the podcast saying that the term stepmother comes from old English. Step meant orphan. I mean, that's not positive.
SPEAKER_00No, but the point of step is that somebody stepped in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I like the stepped in part. Yes. That's the if you're an orphan and someone steps in. Listen, I don't know. We make everything negative.
SPEAKER_00I like it to be positive. Let's start looking at it as positive and not negative, okay? Sure.
SPEAKER_02Let's change things. Sure, whatever you say.
SPEAKER_00Let's I want it to be a nice story, not a yucky story.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's talk about nice stories. Let's talk about shrinking.
SPEAKER_00I love that show.
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_00The only show I've ever seen Rich Karuba literally look forward to and say, When is shrinking on? And I can't wait for shrinking. Or then when the show comes on, he has that nice look on his face, like I love this show. He doesn't get like that for many shows ever. Yeah, I don't even think Ed watches it, which is such a mistake.
SPEAKER_02What? But last week, if you remember, I think we jinxed it because we said that we love the fact that Brett Gold is still on the show. And he's leaving. And he left this week. But I will say this if you want to be positive again, we're all positive on Super Bowl Sunday. All positive. He is leaving for multiple reasons. One being he is going back to his character on Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_00I think he's in a movie too, right?
SPEAKER_02And he's in a movie also, which is also good. But I also want to say that if the writers decided that this was a move that they needed to make because of feelings that uh people have with him around, I get it. Well, he's the writer.
SPEAKER_00But I'm saying if the decisions were because absolutely makes sense that people would be uncomfortable to have his character around when his character is the reason that everybody is dealing with their grief and their ways.
SPEAKER_02I know people didn't like it, but I thought what she said to him was spot on. Spot on. And when he she's suffering, and also in a way, in a therapist way, in a good person underneath way, she's like, you're wasting your fucking life. Right. And you have one, right?
SPEAKER_00So go do so lucky that you got a sexual chance, correct? Go live your life, correct, which is amazing to say, and I think it resonated with me so much, but it made a lot of sense for him to say, Yeah, it's time for me to move on.
SPEAKER_02I did so too. We know that it's coming back for another season, and there's nobody said that he won't be in that season. So, you know, we'll see. But I think it was good. I think the timing was right. Yeah, I think it was good that that scene was amazing.
SPEAKER_00Amazing.
SPEAKER_02The show's the best, and we know it. So good.
SPEAKER_00I keep repeating that the same way I say I'm cold. Well, also, when we were watching it, so Liz and Derek have sons, and one of the sons is struggling, and he comes home to live in the house, and they're babying him. And they basically say, it's time for you to tough love and tell your kid to get the hell out of the house and start standing on his own two feet. And Liz is always the bad guy, so Derek goes to do it, of course, struggles with it. And Liz understands what it's like to have to be tough on your kids. So Rich looks at me because that's what happens with us. And I go, I've been doing so much better. I've been doing so much better. And Rich is like, No, you're not. The conversation you had with your son an hour ago was exactly like this.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Really? I thought I was doing so much better. That's funny. Yeah, no, it's always like, you know, good cop, bad cop, and then always at the end of it, he does the hard thing. He goes, Where are you going? She's like, I gotta go take care of my copy. I gotta go take care of so that I thought was really funny. It was very good. Everything about that show is amazing, and Brian's amazing. And that when he says you're gonna die, you're gonna be trampled. And he goes, Is it Cher? Is Cher coming? Oh my god, just so good. So great show, as everybody knows, because you're our loyal listeners. Let's move on to tell me lies because I just cannot believe that we only have two left. I just need it to be over. It's so it gets crazier and crazier and crazier. It's there's no wrapping up. When's the wrap up? Before you know it, in a blink of an eye, you you're just finished episode six. And then you Google how many episodes there are, and they're eight. I'm like, how are they gonna wrap it up? How is this all going somewhere in two episodes? Right. I don't know. If you think about it, so Wrigley hooks up with Brie, and if you think about it, when you're watching Wrigley hook up with Brie, and then you're watching that scene at the wedding, which was kind of heartbreaking.
SPEAKER_00Heartbreaking.
SPEAKER_02That is a long time in between. Right. So he's been holding that, or whatever's been happening has been nine years.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't get it. Look, Steven held on to the photos and the videos, and the fact that he sent the videos of Diana to her dad. We all gotta give this a rest.
SPEAKER_02So insane. I mean, I look forward to what they bring me next episode, but I still don't understand how I'm not saying they're gonna wrap it up because I there is probably gonna be another season, but how are they even gonna wrap something up?
SPEAKER_00I don't know because nothing's wrapping now.
SPEAKER_02Nothing's wrapping except for Snoop Dogg at the Olympics.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what's up with the whole Snoop Dogg at the Olympics thing? Dude, I love it. I love it. It is like Lewis and Kim.
SPEAKER_02It brings me nothing but happiness. I'm watching Snoop Dogg holding my Snoop Dogg comfort support animal. So good. Yeah. All right, so tell me lies. I don't know. I guess we'll figure it out. We have two more episodes.
SPEAKER_00I just can't understand how they're gonna do that. But okay.
SPEAKER_02All right, Summer House is back. You don't watch it. I don't watch it. But I am very interested in how the season plays out with Amanda. It's been episode one, they're at each other's throats. So, you know, you miss Page and you miss these people, but I don't know who any of these people are. I'm with it because I need to see how this divorce plays out in the summer before they got divorced. So I have no idea. So that is back on Peacock and also on the cock, we have the traders. This week was nuts. This week was really good.
SPEAKER_00So now, I mean, I don't want to do this. It's okay, just do it. So, okay, so Candace is out. Yep. And Rob is the only trader left. And then, of course, he has to pick a new trader. And honestly, he picked the perfect person. I think so too. He picked Eric.
SPEAKER_02Eric was like shocked when he was takes the hood off, which is that's how you know you're playing a good game. No, there was no thought in your mind that Rob could have been a trader. Unbelievable.
SPEAKER_00What a great show this is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what a great season. So now we'll see how this plays out. I guess when you're down to one, you really do need another traitor. No, it's good. It's good.
SPEAKER_00Right. And Eric had the opportunity to say no, but then he wouldn't be able to stay in the game. No, either you say yes to trader or you're off the show. Correct. You really don't have a choice if you want the money. Yeah. So I think this guy, Eric, needs the money. No, he's not like a big star.
SPEAKER_02We're still in the middle of that. And this week we started Lincoln Lawyer. Mickey, he's back. Mickey's back. This is season four, if you could believe it.
SPEAKER_00And a couple things. I forgot that when we last left him, he was in jail. But of course he gets out of jail. It's the trial.
SPEAKER_02So the whole season is the trial. I love some of the people. Like Dev Campbell is full force this season.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like that there's a lot more of her. But I understand the daughter's with the mother, the daughter's with Mickey. She can just sleep here, she can sleep there. Now there's the boyfriend. I'm not where you are. So I feel like the boyfriend's somewhat involved in all this, but I don't know. I could be wrong. You got Cisco, best boyfriend name ever, even though he's an odd dude. Lorna. Okay, great. The Elliot Gould guy, um, Izzy, right? There's a lot going on, but everybody has to say Mickey's name 500 times.
SPEAKER_02The worst person on the show is Mickey. Mickey Howell is the worst actor on the show. Lorna's amazing, and Nev is amazing.
SPEAKER_00And even Sisko's better actor.
SPEAKER_02And Cisco's good. I'm not counting the daughter. And Elliot Gould, who doesn't love him. We had a cameo by Kyle Richards. Yes. Oh, that's right. That was so good. And guess what, everybody? Sex in a car.
SPEAKER_00Sex in a car. So Kyle Richards is a client and she's getting divorced, and she is saying she had bodily harm because she had sex in a car.
SPEAKER_02And she got an STD. Fucking great. Oh my god, I was dying laughing.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I mean, let's say it and it happens, I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_02I'm on episode eight. There are 10 episodes, which is a lot. We're on six, I think. It's renewed for season five, of course. Even yesterday, it's like 14 below, and we're just staying in. And I'm watching it, and it's like, this guy cannot act. I go, but the rest of the people can. Everybody else is great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's so funny to me that he's such a bad actor, but we like it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Can't wait. So I'm almost done, and it's already renewed. So that's fine. So that is out on Netflix for everybody. This is season four. So if you didn't watch any seasons of the Lincoln Lawyer and you hate the Super Bowl or you're too cold, but although this week is gonna warm up, you should certainly check out Lincoln Lawyer. All right, what else do we have? Well, we had the pit. The pit was fine.
SPEAKER_00Good, yeah, good HBO, great, fine. Industry. The new episode dropped on Friday because of Super Bowl. Still don't know what's going on. Still don't know what's going on. At some point, I gotta get into industry. But I said it's such hard work. I will say that the ponies finale was great.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I have to watch it, ponies, yes.
SPEAKER_00That finale was great. Good morning. So now that you finished definitely you're telling people to stream it, stream it, people. It's so good. Did you ever finish Steel? No. Okay. We've elected not to finish Steel, and we've elected not to finish hijack.
SPEAKER_02No, I stopped hijacked. I enjoyed Steel. I think The Ponies was better. So good. But I still didn't finish the ponies, so I gotta go back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then the Night Manager finale was also good.
SPEAKER_02Night Manager, I have not watched any, but I am excited to watch it. Really good. And last night we were supposed to go to a function, and then I we were like, there was snow drifts everywhere, and we failed on the function. I was like, should I go to Night Manager right now? Then we started playing Rummy Cube. I was almost gonna rent HouseMade for $17, but I decided to wait.
SPEAKER_00So LM McKay, you can watch LM McKay for free.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. That's that one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I watched the one.
SPEAKER_02Did I tell you I watched the other one?
SPEAKER_00Begonia. I didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_02The Legs one. Who's in that again? And I could see why she won. I want to watch Songsung Blue. Yes, but that was also $17.99.
SPEAKER_00I'm not paying for anything. I pay for everything. Which is cheaper than if you go to the movies, right? Yeah, definitely. I it has to be something juicy for me to do that. You know what I'm obsessed with lately that I didn't write my notes or even and just thinking about it because I'm thinking about what I pay for. I'm obsessed with on Sirius XM, the John Mayer channel. Do you listen to that channel, Life with John Mayer?
SPEAKER_02I listen to John Mayer, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That channel's fucking amazing. Yes. Why is nobody talking about that?
SPEAKER_02But why are you saying it like you just discovered it?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I've always listened to it, but I feel like this week, maybe because I commuted and I was listening to a lot of it. This week, listening to John Mayer's channel, he's really good at this music stuff.
SPEAKER_02He's a super talented musician.
SPEAKER_00I know, but even when he talks about music, he talks about music in a way that is so how I want to talk about music.
SPEAKER_02No, I know, I agree. So good. And he likes what I like. I love him, and I I appreciate how talented he is. I love his music. I'm not really the grateful dead person, but he doesn't play that much of it on his channel. No, I know. He only plays a little, I know. Anyway, Rose Byrne is in if I had like kick you. Yeah. And I love Rose Byrne, and it's basically like a one-man show for the most part. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So I'm still not paying for it.
SPEAKER_02No, it's free. That's free. Okay. Yeah. I gotta find free things. But yes, I want to watch Song Sung Blue also because you know how I feel about Neil Diamond. Yeah. But I wasn't paying $17.99 less.
SPEAKER_00No, there's no paying for things. Yes. We're pulling it.
SPEAKER_02Producer Ed does not have any interest in Neil Diamond, even though that's disrespectful, but you know it is what it is.
SPEAKER_00Really? He has a thing against him?
SPEAKER_02He doesn't feel the love that I feel for Neil. Really? And let me also say that he also producer Ed's choices are really he also felt that way about Barry until I took him to a show, and now he feels the love for Barry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You have to learn, everybody.
SPEAKER_00Why do you not like Neil Diamond, though? He's just a lovable guy.
SPEAKER_02It's just anti-everything I believe in.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_02What do you got for me? Because my uh hopefully I have some luck on Super Bowl Sunday.
SPEAKER_00Well, I thought people would think I'd go Super Bowl or they'd go Olympics or kidnappings. I just decided to do any true or false question about somebody named Savannah or somebody named Guthrie.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00There's not a lot of options, so here we go. Oh, and they're all true or false. True or false. Savannah Guthrie has co-hosted today longer than Hoda.
SPEAKER_02Um true.
SPEAKER_00That is correct. Savannah joined in 2012. Hoda joined in 2018.
SPEAKER_02I do love Hoda, though, and she came back. That was kind of emotional what she said, you know, to everybody.
SPEAKER_00Okay, true or false. Savannah Chrisly released a country music single while starring on Chrisly Knows Best. She sings? True or false? False. True. She released Why Me during the height of the show.
SPEAKER_01Oh God.
SPEAKER_00Okay, number three.
SPEAKER_01The Housewives.
SPEAKER_00Number three. True or false. Guthrie is the first name of a recurring character on the HBO series The White Lotus. True. False. There's no recurring character named Guthrie.
SPEAKER_02But there is a character named Guthrie.
SPEAKER_00No, there isn't.
SPEAKER_02On The White Lotus, there was.
SPEAKER_00Not a recurring character on HBO show. Okay, God. Okay. True or false, Savannah Smith appeared in the teen drama Gossip Girl, the 2021 reboot. I don't know. True. True. She played Monet, a breakout fan favorite character.
SPEAKER_02I have no idea who that is, but great.
SPEAKER_00Well, you got it right. True or false, Savannah Guthrie hosted Saturday Saturday Night Live one time. False. Correct. She has never hosted SNL.
SPEAKER_01She doesn't strike me as somebody who never hosts SNL. She didn't.
SPEAKER_02She tells me where Santa and his Asian wife are. This is why it makes no sense.
SPEAKER_00I don't get it. Hopefully, by the time we come back next week, we know where Nancy Guthrie is located. All right. Well, I'm raising my live and she's well, and nobody had to sleep it combine, whatever it is.
SPEAKER_02Because we're positive on Super Bowl Sunday. Positive. So I'm raising my wine. I hope everybody had a great Super Bowl, won some money. Your teams won. I hope everybody has a good week in the warm-up. I hope everybody has a happy Valentine's Day. So stupid. And hopefully, Savannah, good luck to you. And let's go. Love ya. See you next week.
SPEAKER_00Love ya.
