We Need 2 Talk is BACK! This Week we talk Italy, Retirement, Coachella, Scandals, and Finales and so much more!

SPEAKER_01

This week on We Need to Talk, we talk Italy, we talk retirement, and we talk season finales.

SPEAKER_00

We're back. We're back. I feel like we've been gone for a year. I have so much to say. Well, we need to tell everybody that we did see each other on Friday.

SPEAKER_01

And we are back from our respective Aquicias. I am still in Italy mode and I'm drinking a Campari spritz this morning. It looks I've never seen that glass. We didn't have an orange because a campari spritz needs an orange. I really am so into the spritz, just so delicious. So I'm not an Aperol person, so I don't really do the Aperol spritz. I'm a Kampari person, so I do the Campari spritz, and Ed does the Hugo spritz. And so we're all about the spritzes. I could become a spritzer. Life's good when you're spritzing. I think I feel the need to spritz. Oh my god, Italy is so good, and you're just sitting there and the weather's beautiful, and you need a spritz.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, when in Italy, be like the Italians, spritz away. Are we living in Italy with the beautiful people?

SPEAKER_01

Why are we doing it? I could do it. I could do it. I could do it too.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, past these people selling lemons on the side of the road. I'm like, I could do that. I've always noticed in when I've been in Italy, it doesn't matter what Italians are doing, they look so happy all the time. Even when they're yelling at each other, you feel like it's a happy yelling. You know what I mean? Like there's no, they don't seem unhappy there.

SPEAKER_01

It's just the best. I know. It's absolutely you feel good. The people are great, the food is great. I'm spritzing. And then you come back and it's like, why? Why am I back?

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's vacation in general.

SPEAKER_01

But let me tell you something interesting. I told you this the other night. There is no cock in Italy.

SPEAKER_00

By cock, I mean peacock. Wait, you know what? One of the things though I wanted to know was we're talking about peacock the animal, not peacock the streaming service, right?

SPEAKER_01

The streaming service.

SPEAKER_00

Oh animal. That's what Rich said. He was like, she means the streaming service. Why would I care about the animal? I don't know, but at first I thought you meant peacock the animal.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I try to keep up. I try to keep up on my shows. Plus, I was obsessed with all the scandals that were going on while I'm in Italy, and I'm six hours ahead. And so I have all the platforms, and it just is not available in Italy.

SPEAKER_00

You can't even download it, or it was downloaded when you go and it just says you can't look at anything here.

SPEAKER_01

No, I couldn't look at anything. No people. Really? I don't know. I don't know. It's crazy. Huh. So I kept saying there's no cock in Italy. Maybe from the American platform on my phone. I'm not really sure.

SPEAKER_00

But it kept saying not available in Italy, not available. Hey, NBC people. There's a whole audience missing your content. How are you watching the real Housewives of Rhode Island Italians? Yeah, Italians would love that show. Oh my gosh. I kept thinking peacock the animal. What's wrong with you? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

So I came back from Italy. You were bougie. I was bougie in Italy, but you were bougie at the Auberge. Yeah, we went to Wildflower Farms. I was talking to my sister about it yesterday, and she said the same thing you said this time of year, also. Okay. Not much to do. So she did go there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay. I felt like I was being inspired by Marissa when I was there. I feel like that's one of the reasons I even wanted to go.

SPEAKER_01

So I know we have so much to talk about, and there's so many scandals and all these things happening, but you obviously didn't get any sleep. And the beauty of not getting any sleep is that you watched Justin Bieber live today.

SPEAKER_00

I did. I couldn't sleep. Around one o'clock in the morning, I woke up. I moved myself into the family room and I went to put on YouTube. And they said Justin Bieber would be on in 44 minutes. So I figured, well, I'm up. I might as well watch the concert, which I so so glad I did watch it live because I wanted to see what all the commentary from last week was about. Because some people were saying he was lazy and it was, you know, lazy.

SPEAKER_01

I watched it. I watched it not live, but I watched it where they replayed it on YouTube. And I don't think he was lazy at all.

SPEAKER_00

I honestly think this was sort of like mixing the old and the new. And I felt like for the first time in a long time, he seemed exuberant and happy and alive.

SPEAKER_01

And yeah, they didn't like those videos in the background. I loved it. They didn't like all the new songs. In my opinion, I'm not listening to it all. I like even my family's got mixed with views. I love him. I felt like he was back. I felt like he was happy. He sounds amazing. He looked amazing. I loved every second of it. I actually was like, I loved all of Cochello, the Teddy Swims and Joe Jonas. All of it was so good. Yeah. But now today, tell us, tell us how how Billy was. Somebody has to check in on Billie Eilish. She's definitely not well today.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So Justin Bieber did One Less Lonely Girl and brings up Billie Eilish to be the girl in the chair. She's flipping out. She obviously was shocked and surprised, hysterical, you know, and he's holding her. Like it's a dream come true. Because normally when the little girls are in the chair, he doesn't hug and kiss them. And he's holding her. She's out of her mind. And he's literally holding her in a bear from behind and singing, and she's dying.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I can't wait to see it. I already saw a clip of it this morning, so I can't wait to see. I can't believe you watched it live. All right, listen. Listen, this is one of the benefits of being up. Get to catch it live.

SPEAKER_00

I'm all about positivity. Finding the silver lining. I found it. I got to watch it live. I had heard that they're doing a documentary on the whole Justin Bieber Coachella thing. Yes, I heard that too. I'm very curious how they figured this out with the security because he was able to go to where the barriers were. He let everybody touch him. So he's singing and he's got his back to all these girls and women, and they're all touching him and holding him, you know, the phones and crazy. But he seemed comfortable and happy to do it. I'm happy for him.

SPEAKER_01

I hope they're good. Did you see Kim and Lewis in their disguises?

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, who do you guys think you are that you need to be that incognito to go to a concert? So good. I was cracking up. Yeah. I love them so much. I love it all. The other thing I don't know if you saw the clip from I think it was Friday, but did you see Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter? Yes, yes, yes. Honestly, freaking phenomenal. Yeah. Madonna is almost 70. Yeah, she looks insane. I can't even talk about that. The fact that she's able to rock that outfit, sing like that, and command that audience the way she does, yeah, is just unbelievable to me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so Coachella, amazing. Really good. We had the Masters, which was again another year of horror. Right down to the wire. Right. And now Full Swing is back. I didn't have a minute to watch that yet. I'm not ready to go there yet. Yeah. Me either. But the Masters is great. Congratulations, Mori. Back to back. Yeah. Belly to belly. Yankees are back. We were together at the game. Yes. We're not good. Well, look, but so far we won two games in a row. Yeah, and we're and we're one and oh, like at the stadium. That's good. It was good to be back. No, we're 1-0 at the stadium. No, I was one and oh, I was the first game back. Me too. Yeah, their homestand, we were away, so now we're back. Yeah. It was good. So it's good to see you. Yes, great to see it. Great to see you. Shared some good bacon at NYY, of course. That Nelson makes a good drink, I gotta say. No, you love your mezcal.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he does it good there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's right. It's the best.

SPEAKER_00

And you have some news you want to share with our people. Yes, I have some big news. So last Wednesday I announced to my job and to myself that I am retiring at the end of April from working.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna stop working. This is why we need to move to Italy. I'm holding up my compariance. Now I can. Now you are ready.

SPEAKER_00

I'm ready to go. I was always planning on retiring next year at the end of 27. And just a lot of different reasons why I decided to move it up to now. Look, it's a great thing. I'm so proud of myself and proud of my husband and I that we're able to do this. But I've never not worked and I don't know who I am outside of being a working person, but I'm ready to figure it out. And I you know what's really funny?

SPEAKER_01

I I think I thought about this the other day when we were talking about how we both started working very young. Yeah. You even younger than me. I think I was 14, you were younger. But these kids today, they don't want to work. We're crying over figuring out what it's our life is gonna be like not working. We're crying. Right. And these kids have no desire. Can you imagine when the generation now is gonna be like, yeah, my first job was like uh 27? Yeah, but what are you talking about?

SPEAKER_00

When I was at the Yankee game, there were these two cute guys in front of us, and then there was a space, and then there were these two older guys, and the one guy, I guess, was a cop. I was listening to the whole story, and so he says to the guy next to me, Are you Chief Jimmy's brother? And the older guy says, Oh, yeah, that's my yeah, that's my brother. And he goes, Oh, he's my chief. He's like, You look just like him. I was hearing you talk, you sound just like him. Oh, that's so they start talking police stuff, and the kid he looks so young, this guy. And he goes, Yeah, I'm gonna be retiring 15 years. And I'm thinking, didn't you just start working? I don't know what time. I've been working for 40 years.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be a new chapter, and we're gonna we're gonna be ladies who lunch. Yeah, we're so late to lunch ladies who spritz, and we could be in Italy at any moment, yeah. We could with the beautiful people eating pasta and pizza.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I could.

SPEAKER_01

I could. We both could, we could do it. Speaking of the Yankee game, so I obviously I know I know you don't feel the same way I do, but I'm down this rabbit hole of Wes and Amanza from Summer House. Well, now I'm in it because Dave Portnoy is in it. Well, oh my god, T by the C. And this morning I saw him say, okay, for everybody that thinks they're too old for TikTok, yeah. I'm so happy that I took himself off. I thought that's me and you. Yeah, for everybody thinks you're too old for TikTok, I've made an Instagram page.

SPEAKER_00

Sign me up because I shut TikTok down, so I have to catch up. So when he said I'll put it all on Instagram, I was so happy and went back to the Instagram and made sure I was up to date with all my tea by the sea with Dave.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't know if all of our listeners are invested in this scandal, but Summer House is a show and Bravo, and it's been on for I don't know, a decade. And I've been invested since day one. And Kyle and Amanda are a married couple, and he's the lover, you know, the person behind Lover Boy, which is like those drinks. Now they're divorced or getting a divorce, separated, whatever. And Sierra, who you know because you like the traders and she was on the traders, yes, who could be the most beautiful girl on Brahma. Stunning. So she became very good friends with Amanda, and she was also in the Paige circle when Paige was on Summer House. So, long story short, Amanda and Wes are hooking up, and there was all this lead to are they hooking up? Are they not? And yes, they are hooking up. And obviously, my take is that Wes is a player and an asshole, who cares? Kyle is just an asshole anyway, and that marriage should have never been anyway. Who cares? Amanda's the most boring person I know. Like, I don't even know why you want to hook up with her, and so everyone seems Sierra, because really, if you don't fuck your friend, get it was the ex, but this whole season in the summer house, she still kind of has feelings, maybe gonna hook up, blah, blah, blah. There's gotta be a girl code out there. We've talked about this whole girl code. We've talked about the girl code. There's a million people in New York City, and you have to choose your friend's acts, like it's ridiculous, right? And she claims to be so there for Sierra and a girl's girl, but obviously full of shit. Anyway, the whole thing blew out of proportion, and now she's everywhere. She's in the West Village ouch at the fucking Yankee game with us, which by the way, she looked bored at the Yankee game. I'm starting to turn now. I'm communicating with Brother Paul all the time about it, but I believed it to be true. Dave Portnoy's talking about it, everyone's talking about it. But you want me to believe how am I believing that the Yes Network just so happened? They just captured them and to know where they're sitting. They just captured them. I don't know. Now I'm thinking if I'm being fucked by Bravo, if this is a Bravo hoax for ratings, for this, for that, I don't even know what I'm gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

Like is it's real, not real. I just found the whole thing bizarre of that in the giant Yankee Stadium, they were able to find them, seek them out, get them on camera, the whole thing. And she looked bored. The part that I saw, she looked bored at the game. She's not fun.

SPEAKER_01

She's been out more now in these last two weeks than she's ever been on the whole time she's been on Summer House, and now everyone's excited for the reunion. Of course, I'm excited for the reunion. Like everyone's gonna tune in to watch it. But I've been obsessed with this whole thing, and now I'm being fucked by Bravo. I'm gonna be pissed. That's Andy doesn't pick it up. I'm going to be pissed.

SPEAKER_00

Doesn't that sound like a good slogan? Fucked by Bravo. Could be a show. Fucked by Bravo.

SPEAKER_01

Now I don't know if it's real because the Alex vs. Alex situation is real. Oh, that's really no, no, no, that's for real.

SPEAKER_00

That's real. And the fact that again, Dave Portnoy not only is involved in it, T by the C. He's the one who dropped the T. He's a genius, by the way. He is a genius. So fill people in on Alex vs. Alex. Okay, so for anybody who doesn't know these people, there is Alex Cooper and Alex Earl. Alex Earl spells it with an I, A-L-I-X. Alex Earl was the one on Dancing with the Stars. Right. She's a TikToker. She blew up, I guess, not that long ago, two years ago, maybe. Anyway, she went to the University of Miami, but she was a bar stool person many years ago. Alex Cooper has the Unwell Network. Alex Cooper, for anybody that doesn't know, is the Call Her Daddy person. She has one of the biggest podcasts in the world, and she created this Unwell Network. And when Alex Earl was blowing up, she was actually blown up already. Alex Cooper hired or pulled in Alex Earl to be part of the Unwell Network. Me and Dave both agree that we don't understand. You and Dave, you and Dave. We both agree.

SPEAKER_01

When you talk to him.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Of course. Yeah, of course.

SPEAKER_00

That we don't understand why Alex Earl had any reason to be a part of the Unwell Network because she was already so big. If you're gonna go to the Unwell Network, you should be a smaller star and let the Unwell Network blow you up. But Alex didn't need to go to the Unwell Network. Anyway, for some reason, after this big news that Alex Earl was part of Unwell, out of the blue, she leaves Unwell, and nobody knows why. And it's this mystery, and Alex Cooper's not saying anything. They just say that she left, but nobody really knows the truth. And they obviously despise each other now. Despise. Yeah, well, I mean, they're fighting over something so stupid, but now everyone's involved, like chicken fry and all that. Well, okay, so Dave says that that Brianna Chicken Fry told Dave all about this scandal during the Super Bowl, so that he's always known about whatever this issue is. Of course, he's also not revealing as much as we want to. No, but he said he also knew about Wes and Amanda. Yes, yeah, correct. He knew everything at the Super Bowl. Instead of being on BFFs, now he has his own little gossip show called Tea by the Sea, where he doesn't have to get off his lazy ass. So doesn't mean any content. He's at the beach, he's laying in his own beach telling us the gossip.

SPEAKER_01

Do I really care about Alex versus Alex? But no, I don't. I'm not a fan of Caller Daddy. It's not my thing. I like Alex Earl. She's cute. I love Alex Earl. I've loved her since they while kids are all siding with Alex Earl. I think she's cute. But it's just funny. Like everyone's fighting this scandal everywhere you look. Dave Portna is reporting on all of it.

SPEAKER_00

And now he dropped the T by the C hats because I was gonna get you a hat. You can't jump back on it.

SPEAKER_01

Sold out. I went to get it. It's amazing. This guy's amazing. I know. Brilliant. He's also reporting on the fucking Drabel thing, which I'm also obsessed with. Because we is it wait, I'm confused though. Is it Drabel Brabel?

SPEAKER_00

What's how do we say that guy's last name? I thought Drabel. I don't know. Am I saying? No, because Brian Dable is D-A-B-O-L. This guy's spelled with a V-R-A-B-E-L. So is it Varabel or Rabel? No, it's not. I don't oh my God, I don't know. It's Mike Brabel and Diana Rossini. But now, as we head to the draft. Yeah, Bell Draft is this week. So she stepped down, which is nuts. This makes me insane, though. Netnet people, he's the coach of the Patriots. She's a reporter for The Atlantic, aka New York Times. They're both married. They were caught in Sedona in a hot tub. It's gotta be holding hands.

SPEAKER_01

It's gotta be Vrabel. Okay. Vrabel. Okay. So with a V.

SPEAKER_00

With a V. Right. Now there's videos of her being on different podcasts saying her marriage is sort of lame or whatever, complaining about the husband. Either way, she is married, and there was an investigation by the Atlantic about Diana's participation in all of this. But here's the thing: Diana basically lost her job. She stepped down. NFL, no one's investigating. They're done. They don't care. He can go on his merry way. Double standard? Are you kidding me? And also, you know, these Patriots. Look at how many scandals go on with these Patriots and nobody cares. We just like to blame the Patriots for all things. I hate that.

SPEAKER_01

Let's just blame them for everything. I hate them, but I still like Ann Michael May. That's also a scandal. What is happening? Why are we holding hands in Sedona, everybody? Why? Why? Why?

SPEAKER_00

People, how many times do we all have to say it? You're gonna get caught. There's a camera everywhere. You if you think you're not gonna get caught, you're insane.

SPEAKER_01

You're insane. But okay. Now I felt bad. I mean, she doesn't have a job.

SPEAKER_00

Well, she could go be a podcast person. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

There's too many things happening at once. We're the only people that don't make money from our podcast. We're the only people. We've got we're gone for two weeks. There's a million things happening. I know. It's insanity. Oh, and T Swift announced her wedding. She didn't announce it. Well, everyone's reporting.

SPEAKER_00

It's going to be that the same day came out, and it's going to be in New York and it's on July 13th, which I just don't buy it. For a person who's obsessed with numbers for the biggest thing in her life, she's not gonna do something where she's getting married on a number that makes sense for her. That makes no sense to me. Oh, you're more about the numbers. I'm shocked it's New York City, to be honest with you. It makes no sense. New York City means nothing. I mean, obviously they have no number. No, she loves New York City.

SPEAKER_01

But that's not the place to get married for them. I know we gotta ask Selena. Oh, you let me just say things about Selena for a minute. Does Selena and Joe Jonas giving Demi Lovato love make love?

SPEAKER_00

They're all so supportive of these displayers.

SPEAKER_01

I know, I love it so much. All right, I just went off track there for a minute. Okay, Selena will know about the wedding. Does she get it? She obviously got to save the date. Yeah, she's in the bridal party. Of course.

SPEAKER_00

Can you imagine the people attending that wedding? Oh my god, it's gonna be a cast of characters. Oh my gosh. And also, I'm sure the music's gonna be insane. Food. I mean, all of it's gonna be just off the charts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So we decided when we spoke at Yankee Stadium, you know, all things, all things, all good decisions get made at Yankee Stadium. Yeah, I agree. Obviously.

SPEAKER_00

I like having our pre-production meeting off site.

SPEAKER_01

Off site, yeah, we're off site. We decided that there's obviously too many shows to talk about, no one has the time for this. So we're just gonna focus on finales. While we were gone for two weeks, there was finales that happened. So we need our streamers skip it. We need to talk finales. Correct. So we need to talk first. So we you're telling me I feel like we need to talk about shrinking first. But my question is you're telling me we never talked about the paradise. I thought we did talk about the paradise finale.

SPEAKER_00

I don't believe we did, and to be honest with you, I didn't go back and check. I thought that I had watched it and you did not watch it. Well, we know it's being renewed, it was always supposed to be three seasons, and it confused the shit out of me, but it's fine.

SPEAKER_01

I'll continue to watch it. Great. I think we did talk about it.

SPEAKER_00

I think we did talk about it because we talked about that we don't do time travel. We'll probably edit that part out.

SPEAKER_01

So let's go to shrinking. I was in Italy, thank God we have Apple in Italy. Okay, and I watched the finale. I immediately text my sister, but it's six hours ahead, so she obviously did not watch the finale. I'm just hysterical.

SPEAKER_00

I watched that scene between Jason and Harrison three times. So for anybody who is not watching Shrinking, I know we say it every time. No, they are they are watching it. I assume you guys are listening to us. I honestly do think that what in history this is gonna be in my top 10 for forever. Yeah, top five. Probably. It's the most perfect show so far. There's Not one episode that is not perfectly written, perfectly acted, and just unbelievable. This whole Jimmy and Paul as father-son kind of a relationship where Jimmy looking for his own father's recognition and Paul's recognition.

SPEAKER_01

You know that similar to Ted Lasso, this was written for three seasons. Yes. So it really could have ended at that moment. This story arc story arc ended, correct? Right. The three seasons are now done. The growth, the friendships, the loss, all of that kind of got wrapped up in a way that was so beautiful, but we know it's renewed.

SPEAKER_00

So we are going to do a little time jump. From what I read, Bill Lawrence and the entire cast love each other so much that they want to do more. So he is time jumping and creating a new story arc. This whole story started with grief and love and how you move on. Friendship. Real friendship. And it was just amazing. But the father-son situation with Paul and Jimmy was just amazing, especially because Jimmy has his own style of psychology or psychiatry where he jimmies people. And it ended up where Paul jimmied Jimmy. Brings Sophie back because we thought Sophie was gone. Having that all wrapped up so beautifully was gorgeous. And then it was a tearjerker beyond belief.

SPEAKER_01

And when he made when he said the line about the scars, yes. And that that's evidence of a life lived and how blessed you are. I listened to it three times. Yeah, it's beautiful. It's just about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's so gorgeous. And Alice leaving for college, and then Gabby and Derek getting engaged, where we kept thinking they weren't gonna get engaged, and that she was gonna self-sabotage, and instead she proposes to him, which is amazing.

SPEAKER_01

I also kept thinking there's no way Paul moves, and they move. And Sean moving out. I can't wait to see where they go next. The finale was so it was crafted so somebody's gotta give Harrison Ford a fucking Emmy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh, he's getting one. He's getting one. Definitely. Especially, you know, there's so many times I think he speaks like that, and I think that he has Parkinson's. And then I watch an interview that he does for the show, and he's Harrison Ford.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_00

So good. Da finale perfection.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Please people, anybody out there.

SPEAKER_01

We go on to season four. You guys need to watch this show. Also, the show The Madison. Michelle Pfeiffer. I know we talked about it when it first went on, but it was a very short season.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it's only six episodes. It's on Paramount Plus, it's a Taylor Sheridan show. Another story that starts with a story of grief.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and we talked about it on the podcast, but it's a stream it for me. It's a stream it's a good one.

SPEAKER_00

Stream it, stream it. It's been renewed for two more seasons.

SPEAKER_01

Which is hilarious. I love that. I feel like maybe it's not for everyone. I can't imagine Ed sitting through that show. Rich watched it. He liked it. Feels a little bit more girly to me. It's definitely skews towards female, but we don't get a lot of it's a show about a good marriage. Yeah. I mean, it's also a show about a good friendship, but we get that in other places. We don't get a show about a good marriage. So I love to celebrate a good marriage. So that already has got renewed. Michelle Pfeiffer's very busy. Well, she went from, I guess, she's like she's like Nicole Kidman now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So there's a new show called Margot's Got Money Troubles. There's eight episodes, and it is on Apple.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we're not talking about new shows, but we're talking about Michelle Pfeiffer. And Margot's Got Money Troubles was a it was a famous book.

SPEAKER_00

Right. So Michelle Pfeiffer went from being in nothing to now she's starring in Margot's Got Money Troubles. She's starring in The Madison. But I think David E. Kelly wrote it.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that's what I was gonna say. I did not know that he took the book and made it the show now. Yeah, he wrote it.

SPEAKER_00

He's directing it.

SPEAKER_01

David E. Kelly's her husband. Right. So cool.

SPEAKER_00

Is it I gotta get my wife out of the house? No, he's so cute. I told you he delivers her Gin Martinis. But okay, so you guys, I am already saying Stream Margot's Got Money Troubles. I'm already saying it. Well, it's too soon. It's too soon.

SPEAKER_01

We'll go back to that next week, Elfanning. Yeah, we'll go back to it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm already saying streaming.

SPEAKER_01

All right, season finale of the pit. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Freaking phenomenal finale.

SPEAKER_01

Now, people were saying that it started off slow, the pit. We kept saying, All right, give it a chance, right? Right. Well, guess what?

SPEAKER_00

When you go to work, this is a 15-hour shift. When you first get to work, you're just getting your coffee. You're just starting out. But then by the end of the day, the day's a shit show. And that's what happens. Now it was a great season. The main thing here is that we've been worried about Dr. Robbie the whole day, the whole shift, the whole show. And he was a mess. Well, with good reason. Yeah. He was a mess in the finale. And we think he's gonna get on that motorcycle and never come back. And not in a move away kind of situation. Correct. Now there's been this baby Jane Doe who was left in the hospital, and everybody's had to spend time with her. And at the end of the episode, Dr. Robbie goes to take care of baby Jane Doe, and he sort of speaks to the baby. I took it like he's telling himself everything's gonna be okay. Yeah. Now the internet is saying, is Dr. Robbie gonna adopt the baby? I say that's not happening. He's not adopting the baby.

SPEAKER_01

The problem is that we are stupid people, and everyone jumps to whatever they want to jump to, even with shrinking. Did I tell you this? Cass is on a panel. Yeah. And what's the name of the girl in real life? Krista Miller. Krista Miller, yeah. Yeah. She plays Liz. Liz. She says she's getting all this hate mail because she wouldn't give Brian a rock on the show. Is everyone serious? Right. Give me a fucking break. So on this live panel, she gives the actor a rock, and they're all they're all crying and laughing and doing a lot of things. But again, it wasn't stupid people. He's not adopting the baby. He's not in a position to adopt children. He's talking to himself and the youth of like, it's gonna be fine. We're gonna, you know, it's gonna be fine. And I thought that was a brilliant way to end it.

SPEAKER_00

It was great. There was another thing. Remember that Whitaker lost his badge, and the internet was saying, oh, Langdon took his badge so that he could scam our pills. But we see that the homeless guy has his badge when he is rolling around the city. So there's that component. But then there was something that I honestly, if this happens, I will freak out. What another internet rumor? So I went back and checked. When they're all on the roof at the end of their shift watching the fireworks, and then there's a doctor who's also joining them that looks like Anthony Edwards from ER.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, but he looks like Anthony Edwards when he was on ER. Anthony Edwards doesn't look like that anymore. Well, you can't really tell. Yeah, that looks like that. I watched it so cool. Yeah, I watched it like three times. And isn't it funny that the shrinking guy showed up on Pitt? Yeah, Sean.

SPEAKER_00

He's a doctor now. He does the night shift. He makes he makes food and he's a doctor. Yeah. Can't get better than that. He can cook food and take care of you. I love that. So there was that. And then did you I hope you did. At the end, after the credits of the finale, yes, you see.

SPEAKER_01

And that song has been in my brain all week.

SPEAKER_00

It's Santos and uh karaoke. Yeah, so they're singing you uh You Ottawa. Alice Morissette. Yeah. I've been singing it all week. And Dr. King takes her glasses off and then takes her hair out, and she's screaming. It's great. Yeah. So good.

SPEAKER_01

It was great. The pit is great. We know this. It's totally a stream situation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's a stream situation. Season two was 15 episodes and it's on HBO Max. So HBO spits things out quickly. So I don't think we'll wait that long for season three. So they're they're saying that it's gonna come out in January and it's gonna take place four months later. Yeah, which makes sense because November is supposed to be on a three-month sabbatical. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so the other finale that we need to talk about is DTF.

SPEAKER_00

Also on HBO Max. And I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

We were excited about the cast, right? We support Jason Bateman and all he does. Yes. For me, I hated it.

SPEAKER_00

I hated it. One of the things about the finale was you see Jason Bateman with his shirt off, and then you see David Harbour with his shirt off. And Jason Bateman doesn't eat, does he? I don't think he eats. No, he doesn't eat at all. You listen to Smartless?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, but I mean now you really see. No, he definitely does not eat. That is a known fact. Right. But now that his shirt is off, yeah. They make fun of him. Well Lornette is constantly making fun of him. He needs to eat. Yeah. I don't know what they do at Sunday dinner. Doesn't Jennifer Addison say, Can I give you something, Jason, please? Everything's probably hors d'oeuvre size.

SPEAKER_00

It's not by dinner, it's probably Sunday appetizers. It's ridiculous. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

It was not a who-dunit. I thought that that I thought it was a whodunit. No, I know. So I'm watching Imperfect Women, all these things we'll get back to next week. These are whodunit situations, right? So even if you think it's good or not good, you're invested. At the end, this wasn't a whodunit. It's fucking depressing. And my life as it is, besides being in Italy being bougie, is depressing.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't need more depressing. I just didn't like it. It was uncomfortable. I thought everybody was extraordinarily dysfunctional. I just don't like seeing Jason Bateman like that. I was never a fan of David Harbour. I do like Linda Cartellini. I love her. And I love Richard Jennings. Yes, of course. But what okay, but we I have a weird thing about this DTF thing. Chris Peretti. He plays Jacob on Abbott Elementary, and he played the guy that was supposed to meet David Harbour that Jason Bateman played. Oh, right. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And something bizarro is if you go to the cast list for DTF St. Louis, there's no mention on any websites that Chris Peretti is in the show at all. Why? I don't know. It's annoying to me to see that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know if it's intentional. I don't know what it's about because he was actually very good in this. And I'm so used to him as Jacob. I haven't really seen him in so many other roles. He was really good in this. No, like the acting.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I agree with you. The acting in the show was very good. I'm not saying anything about the acting. It's just that the show is too much too dark, too depressing. I don't like that. No. So I would say skip it. Skip it. Everyone make their own decisions. Skip it. So did I miss any finales? I think that was our only finale. So that was it. Yep, we got them all. And then next week we'll talk about the shows that we're watching and you know what's happening. There's so many shows that are on now, and so many that dropped that I gotta keep up. Another finale, but you don't watch the show, but I do is the show Doc. Yeah, I don't watch that. Oh my god, I really like this show, Doc.

SPEAKER_00

And how many seasons is it?

SPEAKER_01

It's two. It's an ABC show. So watch it on Hulu. But I think they're like 22 episodes, but then it gets split. You know, ABC takes their breaks, you know, here and there. So it just ended in a two-parter. And yeah, it's great. It really is good. Okay. I mean, I could give it a shot. Oh my god, it's really good. I'm hoping it's renewed, but oh my god, really love that show. So that was also a finale. So we have finales and scandals. That's what we had this week. Yeah. And the weather is a little bit warmer, although it's not going to be warm for the next few days, but I'm ignoring that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we we had a really good few days there with this beautiful weather. Oh my god. Beautiful weather makes me want to spritz. Back to the beginning. I really think I could get into spritzing once I'm retired.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So are we ready? I could be a day spritzer. Yes, because you need to day spritz. You need to spritz in the sun. Yeah. No one's ordering a spritz at night. No, no, no. No, no. In Italy, we're going down, we're going back to the wine at night.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Makes sense. Spritz and day.

SPEAKER_01

Spritzing. Makes and day.

SPEAKER_00

Day spritzing. Got it. Day spritzing.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So we gave our listeners, you know, these fucking listeners and these games.

SPEAKER_00

I love that our listeners are so engaged.

SPEAKER_01

We just need more of them. We gave our listeners a couple of trivia topics to choose from. And there was a tie between famous feuds and Italian stallions. And although everybody likes a good argument, I broke the tie and made it Italian stallions because I just got back from Italy, and of course I'm drinking a Campari spritz.

SPEAKER_00

But keep in mind, people, at the pre-production meeting, we're talking about history of Italy or Pompeii. I like the history of Italy. No, it has to be, it has to be focused on pop culture. We can't talk history because I'm not good at history.

SPEAKER_01

I went to Pompeii. It's really fascinating, but it's like one of those things where it really is. But it's like one of those things for me. I'm the worst, by the way. But it's like one of those things, okay, I get it. Now I want to have a sprint.

SPEAKER_00

That's how I was with the leaning tower of peas. I'm like, okay, it's leaning. Let's go. Yeah, like let's go. Right. You can't go in it. So I'm like, okay, we drove over.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I'm not doing these things, just certain things that you saw them once and you're like, yeah, I'm good. Yeah. Right? Like, I'm never going back to see the Motalisa.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

No. Like, why would I do that?

SPEAKER_00

You wouldn't. No, I wouldn't. Not to stand in that line to go into the museum to go look at it for three seconds and go, oh, she's so much smaller than I thought she would be. Yeah, no, right.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I did.

SPEAKER_00

And then I left.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So I'm gonna ask you questions about Italian actresses and actors, and you need to pick the correct answer. Okay. We'll start with actresses. Okay. Which Academy Award-winning Italian actress starred in the film Scandal in Sorrento. Was it Sophia Loren, Isabella Rossellini, or Monica Bellucci?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, I don't even know that movie. So I'm gonna just guess and say Sophia Loren.

SPEAKER_01

You are right. Sophia Loren. Sophia Lorenz is all over Sorrento, by the way. Her picture in there? No, she's actually from Rome, but she was born in Rome and I think raised in Naples, which is close to Sorrento. But she filmed in Sorrento, and so she developed this like connection, and they named places after her, and her pictures are in restaurants and in the marina. It's beautiful. You want to be Sophia? I tried to channel my inner Sophia Loretta.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I hope this is not a bad question, but is she dead or alive? No, she's dead. She died? Yes. Recently? Why did she die?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm not sure, but I'll get back to you in that. Okay. Which actress rose to global fame playing a stunning war widow in a small Sicilian town? Is it Isabella Russellini, Monica Bellucci, or Monica Vitti?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so I'm guessing this is the whole godfather thing. Was it I think it was Isabella Rossellini in that role, right? Shit. I'm gonna just go with my gut and say Isabella Rossellini was the godfather.

SPEAKER_01

It's Monica Bellucci. But was it the godfather? No, she became a global sensation in Melena, which was a 2000 film that was shot in Sicily.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, then I'm a loser on that one. All right. Well, I mean, wait, who is the who was the actress that blew up in the godfather in a small Italian town? Oh my god, Sophia Lorenz is not dead.

SPEAKER_01

I actually really thought she's died. I thought she died last year. I was gonna say she's 91. She's alive. I love that.

SPEAKER_00

Thank God we didn't put it out because what if she heard our podcast?

SPEAKER_01

No, if again pissed off at us, it'll be like the fucking nail polish gate all over again.

SPEAKER_00

Edit this out. No, I'm keeping it. Let's switch over to actors. Sophia's alive.

SPEAKER_01

I love that, Sophia. Sophia, I channeled my inner Sophia. Let's start with the man who literally became the Italian stallion, Sylvester Salone. Okay. Before becoming Rocky, what was Sylvester Stallone's first acting role? Was it a small part in The Godfather, a background extra in Taxi Driver, or a lead role in an adult film?

SPEAKER_00

Oh wow. I wish it was the adult film thing, but I would think I'd see a clip of that somewhere. So I'm gonna go with extra and taxi driver.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I would have said, but it is actually a lead role in an adult film called The Party at Kitty and Studs.

SPEAKER_00

No way! How has nobody been putting that on the internet? Exactly. Come on, and now we need to see it. He was in porn, shit.

SPEAKER_01

He described the job as he had to take it out of necessity.

SPEAKER_00

I understand, Sly. I get it. Gotta do what you gotta do to pay the bills, right? Right. Remember Sylvester Stallone sold his dog to make Rocky. Did you know that? Yeah, I don't like that story. I don't know why you bring it up. I'm just saying, well, I think he went and got his dog.

SPEAKER_01

Would you ever sell your dogs?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I would never sell my dogs.

SPEAKER_01

I would sell Ed before I would sell him. No way would I sell my dogs. Of course not. Okay, next we're going to John Travolta. Everyone knows he starred in Welcome Back Cotter before moving to the big screen. But what show did he appear in even before Welcome Back Cotter? Was it Emergency, Happy Days, or All in the Family? I'm gonna go with Emergency. Yes! He appeared on Emergency in a small guest role playing a teenage victim in an episode, one of his earliest on-screen performances. And then the fabulous boy in the plastic bubble. Right. Which godfather actor was born in New York City in 1940 to Sicilian parents and has said he is all Italian with roots in Sicily. Okay. Is it Al Pacino? Robert De Niro or Marlon Brando.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. Well, I don't know the answer to that, so I'm just gonna again guess and say Robert De Niro.

SPEAKER_01

Robert De Niro is a mix of Italian, Irish, English, Dutch, German, and French. Bummer. Marlon Brando is a fugese. He's not even Italian. He's not answering it. Marlon Brando's not Italian? He's a Fugese.

SPEAKER_00

He's a Fugese. It's Al Pacino. Oh, that was my other guess. Oh well. All right. You didn't do bad though. I didn't do great.

SPEAKER_01

You didn't do bad. You did good. All right. Look, I still have some compari spritz. We are back. Thank you, listeners. Thank you, everybody who came back or maybe downloaded some old episodes. Yeah, thanks. We have a good week because we have the draft this week.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Let's go Pittsburgh. Right. From sunny Pittsburgh.

SPEAKER_00

And hopefully people are in small furniture again somewhere because we love that.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go, Giants. Let's have a week. Love you. Love ya.
